— Welcome to Turtle Stewardship
About
A youth-led initiative aspiring to promote sea turtle conservation and awareness.
About us:
Turtle Stewardship is a conservation effort founded in August of 2025, prompted by the rising struggles sea turtles face when nesting or feeding.
Florida, is a major site for sea turtle nesting, with females making about 40,000 to 80,000 nests per year in the state, which makes Florida a state in need of preserving turtles.
Meet Our Founder
Alika Chugunova
Alika is a junior in high school, who has a great passion for business and the environment, so with those skills, Alika decided to make Turtle Stewardship—an online platform spreading awareness about sea turtle conservation.
Alika is excelling in her studies; she has participated in a variety of activities in her school, even founding her own Turtle Stewardship Club as well as taking part in other several clubs.
She mostly got inspired to create this project because of her volunteering work at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton this summer. The nature center hosts 3 resident sea turtles, which Alika deeply got to learn about. She has more than 70 hours of experience in volunteering at Gumbo Limbo, participating in daily tasks, such as the front desk assistant and the aquarium guide, then in turtle hatchling releases, and most recently volunteering in the 40th International Coastal Cleanup.
